The Intuitive Tarot - Major Arcana

'The Intuitive Tarot had its birth one evening in 1973 when a doodle of the Fool appeared unbidden on my page. His eyes, strange and compelling, invited me to follow him. With him came a complete world - I could see the vibrant sun, hear the rooks cawing harshly overhead, sense the Fool's next step. But more than that - it felt like coming home. So I started painting the rest of the Major Arcana, those twenty-two powerful allegorical cards we today consider to be archetypes - images found in myths and stories around the world, which connect directly into the depths of the human psyche, such as the Mother, the Father, the Wise Old Man, the Trickster, the Hero.

As I painted, I read everything I could find on the Tarot. I have often said that the Tarot was my education - through it I discovered ancient and medieval history, myth, psychology, and most of all, my own artistic direction and spirituality.

I finished the pack in 1981, and discussed publication with various companies, but it wasn't the right time. I waited, and learnt, and grew, and waited some more. In the end it took twenty-two more years! But the process is now complete; the Intuitive Tarot was launched at the first UK Tarot Conference in London in October 2004, and is now on sale in shops throughout the world. It has been a truly magical journey, the outcome of which I never could have dreamt as the Fool appeared on my pad, those many years ago.'
